The largest library in the Netherlands, the Central Branch of the Amsterdam Public Library (Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam – OBA) is located on Oosterdokseiland. It is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 (except select holidays). The Central Library or OBA Oosterdok has a floor surface of 28,500 m2. Its designer is Jo Coenen. The library has 6 floors and each floor is devoted to a different genre and subject. The library organizes different activities every month for adults and children. There is also a telescope in the library collection. Readers can observe the sky by borrowing this library telescope.
