Flights by hot air balloons in the Cappadocia region were first started in the 1970s by tourists who came to this region with their own balloons and made flights. The number of balloons increased as the number of people who knew the suitability of the weather in the region increased. Turkish Aeronautical Association tried balloon flights in 1983 and then, with the initiative of two brothers, hot air ballooning started in the region.
Because the mountain ranges in the region slow down the wind, balloon flights can take place almost all of the year except for rainy weather.
Since the balloons first flew, it has provided an area for those who want to advertise. In the 1980s, as the sales figures of cassette companies increased, they wanted to stand out by advertising. Raks Kaset was the first company to use hot air balloons for advertising purposes.
